and it continues...

Easter decoration on our front porch

Serviceman came with new transmission and fixed our washing machine Thursday morning. Thank goodness. It's been a week without washing and although we don't need good clothes, bath and kitchen towels and washcloths are about out. Yes, we could wash them by hand... but don't want to do that unless totally unavoidable.

It cost almost double what the 2nd hand Maytag cost us years ago. But since we weren't going out to shop for a new one... fixing it was the practical choice. Besides, I think the new ones would have been a lot more (and no, I'm not going to check... what's done is done).

Oh, and our excursion to curb side pickup at Central Market turned out to be an especially easy experience. We pulled into the side of the store where they had parking all set up with signs saying to text this number when you arrive. Then they come out and view a sign you hold up with your name on it (don't even have to open the car window), go back in and retrieve your order, put it in the back and wave! Really easy. The only difficult thing is getting a 'time slot' for pickup.

Grocery items

Working on under-glazing cheeky chicken flock... 2 injuries reported... both to wing area.

see tape with red cross on 2 wings?

Wings can become unattached very easily while still in the greenware stage... as the clay dries, careful handling is necessary. Apparently I wasn't careful enough. But with a little slip and patience, they should be alright to get through the first firing.

Now I have a blogging question:

Some comments to my blog come through in foreign languages. When they show up in the 'comments awaiting  moderation' section, I don't know what they are saying so I just don't post them. I know that Blogger has a translation app for the posts themselves, but can it be used on the 'awaiting moderation'  section? I don't see any way to do it, but then I'm not particularly technically inclined. So if you know the answer, I would appreciate if you would let me know how to do this.

Hope you are all staying home, staying well, and staying safe!

Hugs,
Rian

  1. You seriously had me GIGGLING with the Covid Bunny!! Seriously, I needed that.

As for New Orleans, I bet it is such a sad situation and eerie. I do need to go back. I love it there.

    1. Hi Anni! If you want really good food (and beignets) New Orleans is the place to go. I hope you get a chance to go back when all this craziness is over.

  2. I'm glad your curbside service went so well. As for the washing machine, ouch! I do notice prices have gone up on a lot of things, even if it is just a few cents. Where once I would have price checked and gone to several stores to find items (there are 4 grocery stores within a mile or so from me), I now settle on one and pay whatever is necessary. It hurts but at this point, the risk isn't worth the reward.

    Take care and stay well!

    1. I know what you mean, Mae. I used to check prices too... and now I just order. And yes, things have gone up - not necessarily price gouging, but up.

  3. Glad you could have your washer repaired so soon.
The comment you ask about is bot spam.

    1. Thanks, Joanne. I deleted the 2 foreign language ones.

  4. I started using moderation for comments again because of spam and I just delete those foreign language comments assuming that they are spam. Perhaps I am not a nice enough person -- it never even occurred to me to try and translate.

    Stay safe.

  5. So glad you are back doing laundry. Funny the things we miss doing. Loved the mask on the bunny. As for the foreign language comments, I do not publish them. If I can't understand it, it doesn't get published. I am sure they are spam anyway.

    1. Patti, I'm not sure I 'missed' doing laundry... but I did miss running low on kitchen towels which I wash and change out a lot.

  6. Yes, I get a few foreign language comments, but as Joanne says, they are spam so I just delete them. Glad to hear your washing machine is fixed, and that the curbside pickup works so well! :-)

    1. Yes, we were impressed with how well they had the curb side pickup organized. Decided to go ahead and do it again instead of delivery. But it does take about a week between ordering and pickup.

    2. A blessing that businesses allowed to stay open are finding creative ways to keep people safe!

  7. Wishing you a Happy Easter dear friend, a little quiet this year but we'll get through this …
Love your decorations, I decorated too, despite knowing there were no little ones visiting.
I get comments left in foreign languages, and YES, most of them are spam. If you wish to see what they translate to, copy and paste the text, and then open up Google translate and paste. Usually not worth the trouble, but you could miss out on a genuine comment.
    Stay well !

    1. Thanks for the info, Jo. I think it best to just delete them. I hate to do so for a legitimate comment, but best to take no chances. Hope it doesn't hurt anyone's feelings.. but need to be safe, especially now.
