back again...

can't have coffee or vodka...
so guess it's a hug and sleep

It's been almost 2 weeks since I posted anything... lots of reasons, but mostly due to other issues taking up my time. My friend's husband and long time friend of over 50 years passed away last week. We've been dealing with that...

and also I busted my toe and possibly some small bones on top of my foot the day of his grave-side service. Doctor wanted me to x-ray it and put it in a boot, but no time for that. It will heal. Went to service with one shoe on and one sock.

Then I had another of my heart/bp episodes that night where I wake up with my heart pounding and my head hurting. This time it felt like my heart was jerking - scary. It's strange because my bp is really high during these episodes (159+/96) pulse 120, but low normal to normal during the day (96/59 - 117/82). Anyway my EKG always shows an aberration... so they are sending me to a Cardiologist to check it out.

Next DH and I got our Pfiser boosters yesterday morning. I slept all Friday afternoon. His arm is sore. Mine really hurts today. Just took a Tylenol.

So, although Halloween is tomorrow, we won't be opening our doors... just not up to it. But I did make  some Halloween bat and pumpkin cookies for granddaughter and next door neighbor's twins. They will each get a Halloween bucket of goodies!

Just some fun pics:

more white pumpkins on neighborhood vine

...and lastly a poster that I really like:

That's it for today...

Happy Halloween!

Hugs (virtual),

Rian

  1. That poster should be EVERYWHERE. It isn't only children who would benefit from paying attention to it.
Love the photos and am very glad you have had your booster. They are not yet available here and based on the predicted schedule it will be February before I can have one. Which I will.

    1. Thanks, EC. I love that poster too. Just be fore-warned, I had no reaction (except a slightly sore arm) for the first 2. But this 3rd Pfiser hit me a little harder; arm really hurt after a few hours and slept for 2 days. Today I feel normal again.

  2. I am so sorry about your friend's husband and your friend passing. That was a long time friendship and glad your are there for eachother.
Bummer about your foot. Take it easy. Your heart episode sounds like when I have an AFIB episode. The good thing it that it is treatable. Let us know what the Cardiologists says.
Do take care and get lots of hugs. Great medicine.

    1. Patti, I'm thinking either AFIB or nocturnal hypertension? Who knows? Weird things happen as we age.

  3. Happy Halloween to you, Rian. Sorry to hear about (1) the foot and (2) the heart thing. I am glad you are getting it checked out. Life keeps bringing us these challenges, it seems.

    1. Happy Halloween DJan! Yes, age challenges... but I guess we just have to keep putting one front in front of the other.

  4. That poster is so wonderful.
I hope a cardiologist can get to the bottom of that arrhythmia.

  5. You’ve certainly had your share lately! I’m sorry about your loss. Concerning the toe/ foot, I recovered from a broken toe- don’t try to rush it! Please take care. -Jenn

    1. I actually broke the little toe on my left foot years ago. It doesn't move when I spread my toes apart. This one still moves so perhaps the toe itself is not broken, just some little bone or bones on the top of my right foot. It will heal... although it still hurts to walk.

  6. I'm sorry to read about your family friend's passing, your broken toe and high BP Rian, I sure hope you got that under control--and good to hear you got your covid booster. After all you've been through, I wouldn't open my door tomorrow either! Hope you still have a Happy Halloween tomorrow and have some good things to eat :^)

    1. Oh, Dug... it will all work itself out. The sadness at the loss may take a bit longer, but my toe will heal and the weird bp fluctuations will be addressed soon. That 3rd Pfizer booster did hit me a bit hard... but only for about 24 hours. Today I feel fine.

  7. Love these memes and that last message is perfect for kids.
Meanwhile sorry to hear about your very sore toe and foot, sure would make moving around painful. Also it is time to get to the bottom of the heart episodes. My hubby is losing weight and we are now going to get at why that is happening. Always something it seems. I do the same as you for grandson…put together some treats in a bag. Take care now.

    1. Interesting comment, Jocelyn... about your husband losing weight. I've been losing weight too... usually stay around 130 (I'm 5'4) but have dropped to 123 lately. Don't know why... and my appetite hasn't been great but I think that comes with age too.

  8. I could use all those things in that first graphic, love it!

I'm sorry about the passing of your friend's husband, your foot and the heart issues. Have you ever worn the holter for 24 - 48 hours? Dad has to do that twice a year, and he had an ablation done a couple of years ago. Best of luck sorting it out with the cardiologist and any further tests.

Happy Halloween even though you're not up to giving out treats. (I gave up on treat-giving years ago, Halloween is my most-loathed "holiday." LOL. Can't wait to get out the Christmas decor, though!)

    1. My family physician is thinking that the Cardiologist will want me to wear a monitor. We'll see. It's just strange that my bp is normally so low and why it spikes occasionally during the night like that.
And I'm not a fan of Halloween either. We do usually open our doors to trick or treaters and put out some pumpkins and some bat or crow decorations, but have never thought it a good idea for kids to go door to door... and especially now during a pandemic. I do like Christmas decor!

  9. I have seen that poster before and really like it and hope it helps children fit in. Our Halloween will be very low key tonight.

  10. Happy Halloween!

It sounds like it hasn't been the easiest week. I hope you are feeling better soon and the Cardiologist is able to provide some answers and solutions.

  11. awwww, that was a rough couple of weeks. i send my condolences to you in the loss of such a great friend. your cookies are so sweet. i didn't do anything special for the kids next door, the ones who always visited me when i came home from the hospital. i felt terrible when they came by, i always do something special, usually cupcakes.

perhaps you should take your doctors advice about wearing a boot, it might feel better!!

the last picture is awesome, it should be in every school!!

    1. Thanks, Debbie. I 'may' have to take my doctor's advice about the boot... as I'm still having trouble walking. We'll see - as my appointment with her to get my blood results is this week.
