me again...

Guess I've been posting a lot lately. No need for you to read or comment... just finding it necessary to get it all down these days.

I figured out how to add pages (thanks to Apache Dug's tutoring post). So I added a poetry page first as I haven't decided what stories to put out there yet. But I will probably start with a few of my children's stories I wrote for the grandkids. And I am wondering if there's a way to put the 'pages' across the screen rather than in the right column... (Dug?)

These last few days have been busy working on the sequel, playing Animal Crossing with my granddaughter, baking dark chocolate brownies with miniature Reese's peanut butter cups inside, playing Wordle, and putting together cookbooks for my kids who constantly call and ask me for recipes.

So I finally went to Office Depot and bought several binders and plastic sleeves. Printed out a good number of the recipes that they always ask for... inserted them in the binders and will mail them next week. I also left empty plastic sleeves so they could add other recipes to it. While doing this, I also cleaned out my own recipe book... throwing out ones that we didn't use and retyping some of the old ones.

DH spent yesterday making stuffed peppers with ground meat, seasoning, rice, and pecans. We had some for supper last night  and froze the rest. We did have some of the stuffing part left over... so I made some beef pasties with them. I just added some cheddar cheese and put them into little pie shells. Here's a pic.

And my sister-in-law just texted us about the Wordle word for Saturday. She said that her husband got it in 3 and she never got it. Asked what we thought of it. I told her that DH got it in 4, but it took me 6.... and it wasn't a woman's word. I've probably never used the word 'epoxy' in my life. But that's how it goes...

And I now have the fabric for the border and backing for my jungle quilt. So... I may start on that next week.

And one other thing.... I'm writing this post in a very small text because for whatever reason blogger won't let me get past a certain point on the page. When I get there, if I'm writing in large text, I can no longer enter more text???  So I go in and change the text to small and continue on. Guess it's fine as I can always just make it larger later before I post, but it's a bit strange.

Lastly here are a few pics the kids have sent me recently:

That's it for today. I was watching Face the Nation earlier... but there's only so much Putin I can take... so to save my peace of mind, I turned it off.  Wishing you all a quiet peaceful Sunday. Thanks for dropping by.

Hugs (virtual),

Rian

  1. Rian, I have to tell you I chuckled at your title before I even opened your blog! You shouldn't feel the need to explain why you're posting on your blog. First, your granddaughter's curls are beautiful! Second, loved seeing those meat pies--I'm anxious to try that myself, I know they're very popular in Australia. Third, I'm honored you included a link to my blog in your post, thank you. And I did check out your poems, I loved what I read. But I was surprised to see the pages in your sidebar, I thought your poetry page would be alongside your Home button at the top? I'm not sure how to fix this without seeing your blog's layout screen. You should be able to click on your pages module on your layout, and draaaaag it up under the banner in the center of your blog. Hmm..

    1. Dug, when I had my own website (several over the years) I wrote every day, and may have started blogging that way, but eventually went to several times a week, then once a week, etc. But sometimes like this last week, I just have to get it all down. I'm afraid some may say, 'oh no, not her again!'... but if so, then just skip it, right?
As for the pages in the sidebar, I will try draaaaging it to under the banner and see what happens. Thanks.

    2. Rian, you're exactly right. People are free to skip it--but everyone I know in the blogverse likes you. :^) FYI, I just tried dragging my own pages module underneath my own banner. It worked, but wasn't pretty--it got blackened out, became part of my banner. With you already having that "Home strip" under yours, I thought it wouldn't be difficult for you. But I might be wrong.

    3. Tried dragging it, and it does drag over to under the heading banner, but it doesn't stay. I tried hitting save... still doesn't stay. When I open my blog, it's back on the sidebar??? It does say something about 'tabbing' to get it there, but not sure what that means. I did hit tab, nothing happened.

    4. Rian Ive been trying to duplicate that tabbing message on my blog layout, but no luck. I think it has something to do with your pre-built template, and your awesome cat collage overriding the normal banner size. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful with this... but you do have that Poetry page up, so good for you!

  3. I'm glad Doug could help you. I checked out your poetry and think some of them would make good song lyrics. I'm reading Run,Rose,Run now about a singer/songwriter so that is maybe where I am coming from.
Your granddaughter has just beautiful hair. Lucky girl.

    1. Thanks, Patti. I guess they are not really poems, just random thoughts that run through my mind when on retreat - but by writing them down, I can remember how I felt at the time. As for granddaughter's hair, I'm guessing her mom curled it... as she usually wears braids.

  4. I love the idea of Doug's pages too and will one day have to work on it. There's so much to learn on Blogger.
I find it really hard to stomach seeing Putin's face these days and will turn things off just for my peace of mind for a while.

    1. Yes, Kay... Dug's instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I have a hard time winging it on Blogger. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get the 'pages' to run across under the header pic. I can drag them there, but they won't stay??? Guess I might just leave it as it is.

    1. I do try to stay busy. My kids used to tell the grandkids when they were small, "Don't tell Me-maw you're bored... she'll find something you could be doing."

  7. Oh my, those curls! And those meat pies come in second. What a great idea to print out the recipes and provide them to your children. I have the box of my mother's recipe cards. She rarely used recipes in the true sense, most of the cards are simply a list of ingredients and if one is lucky a temperature. :)

    1. I understand about the recipes, Mae. I have several from my mom and mother-in-law that have just ingredients, the rest one has to figure out. Mine have all the info... with some commentary.

  8. I must write that your food looks so good. I have been slopping in cooking recently and must get my imagination going again. Now that spring is arriving there will be some great new choices.

    1. Yes, lighter fare is on the menu. We had our last heavy meals this week with stuffed peppers and red beans and rice. Now it's on to some creative salads... and I have an absolutely fabulous ice-box lemon pie that I haven't made in ages!
